The Department of Veterans Affairs announced Thursday the first major construction contract for the new VA Medical Center in Aurora.

The $22.5-million contract was awarded to Kiewit-Turner, a Joint Venture of Englewood, according to a VA statement.

“The new medical center for Denver demonstrates VA’s commitment to the Veterans it serves,” Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric K. Shinseki said in a statement. “It will provide Veterans with the state-of-the-art medical care that they deserve while investing in the local economy.”
