A midyear review of state economic performance shows a surprising uptick in manufacturing, with the industry statewide posting 1,100 new jobs in the first five months of this year, a 0.9 percent increase over 2010. Forecasters who participate in the University of Colorado’s annual Colorado Business Economic Outlook had anticipated a loss of 600 jobs in the sector in 2011, so the early turnaround was a pleasant surprise of the state’s slowly improving recovery. The Colorado Business Review which documented the gain is a publication of the Business Research Division of the Leeds School of Business at CU.
