Denver Internet users 8th at risk for abuse

Denver Internet users are ranked eighth most at risk for online credit-card fraud, identify theft and other online security breaches across the USA, according to a Netherlands-based software security provider, AVG Technologies. The company calls the residents of the top ten at-risk cities the most likely to be “digitally duped.” Mobile habits are poorest among Americans, but even at-home PC users were shown to be sloppy in the company’s survey. Of the more than 8,000 Americans surveyed with access to Internet at home:

— 23% don’t back up the data on their PC.
— 38% admit to sharing online passwords with at least one other person.
— 41% never run a manual antivirus scan to ensure a computer is virus free.

The U.S. cities at highest risk are:
1. San Antonio
2. Tampa, Fla.
3. Atlanta
4. Dallas
5. Oklahoma City
6. Charlotte, N.C.
7. Detroit
8. Denver
9. Washington D.C.
10. Sacramento, Calif.
