New site secures Anne Evans’ place in Evergreen history

A new state library website, the Colorado Virtual Library, hosts 58 biographies of historical and living Coloradans including Evergreen’s Anne Evans, 1871-1941, daughter to John Evans, appointed by Abraham Lincoln as Colorado’s first territorial governor. Anne Evans grew up on the family’s ranch near Evergreen and spent much of her adult life there as she became an influential art collector, contributor to the Denver Art Museum and one of the founders of the Central City Opera Association. The Virtual Library has been launched by the Colorado State Publications Library, which has sharing agreements with the Colorado State Library, a unit of the state Department of Education.
